ECOVANTE

Our certification

The first third-party global certification for ethical, community-led travel.

Ecovante Project Partners represent best practices in ethical impact travel across three core dimensions:

Certification gives your organization a clear, credible way to distinguish itself from conventional voluntourism.

This happens not through claims alone, but through practices independently assessed and benchmarked against standards drawn from internationally recognized frameworks.

This recognition builds trust with prospective travelers and project partners, creates opportunities for collaboration and shared learning, and demonstrates a genuine commitment to responsible, lasting impact.

Our certification process is rigorous.

  1. Detailed surveys
  2. Documentation reviews
  3. Interviews with staff and travelers
  4. A site visit by an Ecovante Certifier

Not a “one and done” event

Partners also commit to ongoing assessment through periodic surveys and interviews with participating travelers, as well as regular site visits by the Ecovante team.

A community of partners

Once certified, Project Partners also join a community of like-minded companies and NGOs that share ideas, challenge assumptions, and support one another as they work with local communities to develop meaningful, sustainable projects and travel experiences.
